Heartbeat Hike 2010
Sunday 6th June 2010
Sunday 6th June was the day of our 32nd Heartbeat Hike, in London’s Hyde Park and over 600 Phab members from around the country came together to enjoy each others company, and also to raise money through sponsorship by walking, wheeling or pushing around the Serpentine.
The event was started by Phab’s President Ed Stewart and we were delighted that we were joined by The Deputy Mayor of Westminster Michael Brahams and Maighread Condon Simmonds from Kensinton and Chelsea .
The fancy dress theme this year was Countries - this was in line with the start of the World Cup and the park was full of various people dressed in colourful costumes.
The Phab members and public were treated to a magnificent day of non-stop entertainment; this included a marvelous spectacle of music and dance from the members of Epsom & Ewell Phab Club who performed songs from their stage production. We also were thrilled that John Kelly came with his band Rockinpaddy; other bands included Scallywags and May Contain Nuts , along with Crazy Bananas clown workshop, and face painting - there really was something for everyone.
Members came from all over the country and we welcomed from the North members from Selby Phab, Halton Phab, from the Midlands, members from Towcester and Daventry, from the South West, East Devon Phab, Poole, Andover with the remaining coming from across the South East Region. As usual we had our fancy dress competitions, and we are pleased to announce that the results were:- Best Group - Hounslow, Best Female –Elaine Marshall (Berkshire Phab) , Best Male –Charles Branston ( Hounslow) and one of our newest clubs Pimlico won the best banner
