Mobility Road Show

“The best possible showcase of mobility and lifestyle products and services”

1st – 3rd July 2010
East of England Showground,
Peterborough

Come and visit the Phab stand at the Mobility Road Show.

Our volunteers can help and advise on local clubs and Phab’s projects.

In 2009 Connor, from Uckfield Phab Club was chosen as a competition Ambassador for the Mobility Roadshow’s Ready, Willing and Mobile competition. His case study, together with those from three other young people with varying disabilities, inspired bright ideas from young people aged 7 to 16 years, both disabled and non-disabled: ideas to help children with disabilities on the move - at home, at school, at play.

In its sixth, the annual Ready, Willing and Mobile competition encourages children to consider disability, accessibility and inclusivity from a young age.

This is Connor’s case study:

Mobility Road Show Hi, my name is Connor. I am 13 years old. I live with my mum, dad, sister and dog. I go to school in Eastbourne.

I have many medical and some learning difficulties. I am also fed by a gastrostomy tube because I have problems eating. I have never let my tube stop me doing anything. This year I have been on holiday and kissed a dolphin (as you can see!), been to 2 theme parks and went on the really large and scary rides. I love singing and dancing and have recently started to learn the guitar (with my granddad`s help) and entertain everyone with jingle bells!!!

People describe me as a happy, excitable, fun loving, affectionate & handsome smart little dude who wears the chocolate deodorant ( I don`t know why but all these women keep coming and trying to take bites out of me!!!)

In my spare time I like going to sleep, watch TV, go to Special Olympics, PHAB club, play football with my friends, go to watch football both England & Millwall with my dad and eat Milky Ways!

I dislike School (sometimes).

I am scared of Hornets!

I am looking forward to going to my first England football game with my dad and competing for the South East Region in the National Special Olympics Games in Leicester.

Good luck in the competition.
