Volunteering Opportunities
Supporting Clubs
Thanks almost entirely to the dedication and enthusiasm of people like you, Phab is able to carry out its programme of activities throughout the year.
Whatever your interests and strengths someone somewhere needs you. If you have a few hours to spare each week you would be made very welcome at a local club. You could not only share your experiences but you could gain some new ones too !

Many volunteers decide to use their Phab experience towards completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award and you should also include this information on your CV when applying to college or university.
Phab’s Residential Projects
If you have time to spare during the summer then the Phabkids programme of residential projects offers the chance to develop skills whilst being a buddy to a group of youngsters on a residential activity holiday.
Volunteering background information
How large are the Projects?
Each one is for up to 40 people, this usually consists of around 17 – 25 children and 15 – 18 staff and volunteers. The numbers of places available depends on the individual needs of the applicants each year.
Where are they held?
We use accessible centres in the Lake District, Devon and Derbyshire.
How do I volunteer?
A team of volunteers participates in each of the projects. To apply must:
- Be over 16 years old
- Obtain a CRB disclosure (Phab can process this at no cost to you)
- Attend a training/induction day
- Enjoy working as part of a team
Each year we receive many letters of thanks – here is just one example from a young volunteer helper:
I would like to say that never having worked with Phab before I was very impressed with the way the holiday was organised, the philosophy of Phab and all the hard work that I know you must have put in to the organisation and smooth running of the week. It really was a pleasure and a privilege to be involved. I will certainly do my very best to be available in future if you would like to have me. Volunteer (Calvert Trust, Keswick)
