Midlands Fun Weekend
The much anticipated Midlands Fun Weekend was held in Coventry in October with 89 Phab Club members and staff attending and everyone having a really great time together.
Workshops included a talk by Guide Dogs, the exhilarating Tiger Feet dance group, a collection of spiders, snakes and other reptiles which members bravely handled, a Body Shop workshop with members having their nails painted and a relaxing massage, a drumming workshop, and an inspiring talk given by Kevin Arblaster who has Cerebral Palsy and spoke about his early life learning to fly a plane. As always members enjoyed different arts and crafts workshops, including making jewellery, paper hedgehogs and Christmas wreaths, along with Boccia, and great team competition, this year to create a garden out of plasticine – won by Kenilworth Phab with Wheeler’s garden complete with half buried dog bones and toys (Wheeler being a dog!).
On Saturday night there was entertainment provided by James Lapworth, a great singer and guitar player, with members joining in and dancing with great enthusiasm and a wonderful solo performance from Hayley of Kenilworth Phab.
Thanks to Heather Clarke, Phab’s Midlands Regional Officer, and all those staff and members involved in helping to organise the weekend and run the different workshops – and of course to all those Phab members who came along!
