Wales and South West Fun Weekend
The Wales and South West Phab Fun Weekend in Babbacombe, Devon, at the beginning of November was enjoyed by all 144 members that attended, with some guests travelling from far and wide across the UK. The newly refurbished Babbacombe Hotel was very welcoming and the rooms, food and staff were excellent.
Everyone enjoyed a large range of workshops, including Sock Snowmen, Pot Pourri bags, Beauty Therapy, ancestry, photographs and calendars, chocolate fountains, hanging Christmas decorations, the Exotic Reptile Experience, Tai Chi, Manicures, and Hedgehog table decorations, just to mention a few.
We enjoyed three competitions during the weekend - the Quiz Shield, Talent Contest and Fancy Dress. Winning participants received awards and certificates for their hard work. We had two evenings of Raffle prizes, and a Bingo session, where all monies raised are returned back in prizes. Thank you to Ken Collier and Sarah Gaskin for the selling of Bingo and Raffle tickets at the weekend.
The evenings were for dancing, with various entertainers, and some members were still partying at 3.00 a.m. Sunday morning, after an evening celebrating Phab’s 60th Anniversary.
The members were introduced to George Whittingham, who is the South's Regional Development Officer for Phab. This was a great opportunity for everyone to put a face to a name, and we certainly kept George busy during his stay. Thanks George for all your efforts. You were brilliant.
A big thank you to Brian Knight (Poole Phab), for being master of ceremonies over the weekend, and to everyone that helped the whole event go so smoothly by running workshops, competitions and general running around. Not forgetting all the members that attended this year. These weekends would not happen without your input and support.
