“Our volunteers are what make Phab special.”
Each year Phab organises a programme of challenging Holiday Projects for children and young people aged from 8 to 25. These Inclusive Living Experience Residential Projects are held at two fully accessible outdoor activity centres – Avon Tyrrell in the New Forest and Bendrigg Lodge in the Lake District.
Most of the children have physical, learning or sensory disabilities. A small number of children are disadvantaged in some way, perhaps having experienced neglect or bereavement. And some siblings also attend, accompanying their brother or sister with a disability.
Our very special volunteers help the children to enjoy all the exciting activities and opportunities on offer and ensure that they are happy, safe and comfortable and have a wonderful time away with Phab.
All our volunteers take part in a weekend training course at the activity centre to prepare and train them to support the children and young people, to give them the confidence and skills to carry out this key role, and to get to know the rest of their volunteer team and the activity centre itself. All expenses are paid – we just need your enthusiasm and energy!
The Volunteer Training Weekends in 2018 are:
Bendrigg Lodge, Lake District - 14th to 15th April
Avon Tyrrell, New Forest - 16th to 17th June
Many of our volunteers return to help year after year because they have had such fun and got so much out of their experience - making new friends, developing new skills and being inspired, alongside the children, to fulfil their own potential too.

After my training weekend I feel really well prepared to help on the Holiday Project.
